Holding company Simpson Investment Company is one of the oldest privately owned forest products companies in the northwestern US. Through Simpson Lumber Company, it operates two facilities in Washington that convert Douglas fir and hemlock logs into dimension lumber for the home construction market; its facilities in Georgia and South Carolina utilize yellow pine. The company also produces wood chips, bark, sawdust, and shavings for use in paper manufacturing, construction products, and landscaping. Simpson Investment Company also owns Simpson Door Company, which manufactures interior and exterior wood doors.
