Timber! It's a primary concern for Saint-Gobain Building Distribution (SGBD), the operator of about 4,200 outlets in some 25 countries. In the UK and Ireland, SGBD operates about 900 outlets. Its main banners are the 500-store Jewson chain (Britain's #2 building materials merchant behind Wolseley), and the 175-store Graham chain, a supplier of plumbing and heat supplies. It also operates about a dozen Gibbs & Dandy (acquired in 2008) outlets. The three businesses focus on supplying materials mostly to small builders and other retailers. SGBD is owned by the French glass and building materials group Compagnie de Saint-Gobain.
